Reasonable Accommodation Notice
Your right to request reasonable accommodations and modifications in housing, and how to make a request with our team.
Effective September 30, 2026
Your right to an accommodation
If you have a disability or another physical or mental impairment, you have the right to request a reasonable accommodation or a reasonable modification in housing. Federal, New York State, and New York City law protect that right, including New York’s regulation 9 NYCRR § 466.15. The State Division of Human Rights publishes the official notice: Reasonable Accommodation Notice for Tenants.
What you can ask for
- A reasonable accommodation — a change to a rule, policy, practice, or service. Examples include allowing an assistance animal where pets are restricted, assigning an accessible parking space, or changing how we communicate with you.
- A reasonable modification — a change to a physical structure. Examples include installing grab bars, building a ramp, or adjusting a unit or common area so you can use it.
You do not need special words or a form. Tell us what you need and how it relates to your impairment.
How to make a request
Contact The Finelli Team at (516) 859-1484 or james.finelli@compass.com, or write to us at 110 5th Ave, 3rd Floor, New York, NY 10011. You can also make a request through Compass, our brokerage, or tell the agent you are working with.
What happens next
- We handle every request confidentially.
- We do not charge any fee to request or receive a reasonable accommodation or modification.
- We respond promptly. If we need more information, we will tell you what we need and why.
- Some requests are decided by the property owner, landlord, or building management rather than by us. When that is the case, we pass your request along and follow up.
No retaliation
It is illegal to retaliate against anyone for requesting an accommodation, and we do not. A request will never be a reason for us to slow down or stop working with you.
